Dr. Gideon Barde Speaking At The Unveiling Of KIC NIGERIA 2015

The journey and success of KIC NIGERIA 2015, cannot be complete without the mention of an elder, who is humility personified; Elder Gideon Barde. It was him who breathed direction to KIC NIGERIA through advice and referrals to the heart of the city.Dr. Gideon Barde is a Mass Media Consultant and retired Civil Servant.

In his own words, “what this country lacks is character, we have missed the important of morality, the importance of virtues, things that make a human being a human being.
I see KIC NIGERIA as a product of deep thinking about the need for the country to retrace itself back to God, because morality is virtue and in a way, goodliness and this country needs that very badly and the starting point is the youth. What we need is an orientation from the heart and you can only do that if you are mentally involved.

For me the system of using words that will imprint virtues on the table of the heart, is a system that once this these words are implanted solidly in the heart of the youth, the child will grow up with it positively. Once students learn what honesty is about, what doing things rightly is about, they will not depart from it.
I believe that KIC NIGERIA will blossom and affect the culture of this country positively. It will mold character and make people to be more responsible for self and country. The competition will no doubt ginger the schools to sit up and re-addresses the challenges of morality in the country and promote the need for the students to integrate this virtue for themselves.”
Dr. Gideon Barde’s role was the introduction of one of the Icons that the competition prize is named after, (Late) J. D Gomwalk, who incidentally was his principal. As the then first Military Administrator of Benue-Plateau, Dr. Barde served as the Press Secretary to J. D Gomwalk.
In his usual humble character, Dr. Barde spoke glowingly but very little about J.D Gomwalk, this was because of the presence of a father in the house who Dr. Barde felt was in a better position to tell us more about the man, J. D. Gomwalk.
